Why Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Criterion Knows the Way
It's a funny thing. When people first start with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, they're often looking to learn self defense or get in better shape. Those are true, realistic, surface level goals. People who stick with it discover many other things that positively impact every part of their life. You might start with the desire to fend off an imaginary attacker, but next thing you know, you have new confidence and discipline to improve everything you do. With us, you have a support system of people who started at the beginning, just like you, who want to help you succeed.
Why Criterion BJJ?
Your Success is Our Success
Our passion is helping our students achieve their goals, through continuous improvement, encouraging each student to get the most out of each training session. Every victory for you is a victory for us. Our unique teaching methods allow you to begin learning Gracie Jui Jitsu in a safe and friendly environment, while advancing to expert level skills in one of the most powerful martial arts in existence.
The techniques and concepts taught at Criterion BJJ can be directly applied to self defense and sport fighting.
Youth Classes
Perfect For Your Children
Most schools start out teaching children, and then later adapt their school to teach adults. So, they start teaching at the lower skill levels, and then learn how to teach more advanced levels, as the students get better and older. That seemed backward to us, so we did the complete opposite. We first provided top notch instruction for adults, and then adapted that style for teaching our youth.
All parents and potential students are welcome to Come Watch a Youth Class, or call or text Rob at 502-373-6136 for more information.

"If you treat an individual... as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be."
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Born Aug. 28, 1749.
We understand that's not always true, but it sure makes a great philosophical starting point.
At Criterion, we don't just teach Jiu Jitsu lessons. And we don't just teach beginners. We teach beginners how to thrive and excel, and we help them develop into very capable Jiu Jitsu experts. We know everyone learns at their own pace, and we'll have a roadmap to meet you where you want to be, at a pace that works for you.
